Hello Third Trimester!

Daniel said this angle would be cute 😉

How Far Along: 28 weeks 5 days

Baby’s Size: 2¼ lbs, and about 14 ½ in head to toe. Food comparison – Eggplant. This is getting real folks!

Gender: The midwife last week guessed it’s a girl based on the heartrate when she used the doppler. People say I’m carrying like I have a boy. There’s really no science to this is there?

Weight gain: 20lbs+ (9kgs) from last week, so probably a little more.

Baby bump: The bump just keeps getting bigger despite me thinking I’m at full stretching capacity.

Movement: Baby had his/her first hiccoughs this week. Then second and third. Luckily the weekly Consumer Health Digest videos we watch said I should be expecting them, otherwise I would have been very confused. On another note, baby Deane is either kicking the daylights out of me or giving me the silent treatment. There are no half measures for this little one. On Tuesday evening, baby kicked and wriggled for 4 hours, when Daniel came home from work and all through worship practice at church while I was singing and playing the piano. Maybe baby was telling me it was lovely. Or, maybe baby was saying, “Please stop, I’m trying to sleep here.” I guess I’ll see if baby likes my singing and piano playing when he/she is out of the womb.

Exercise: I’m doing my yoga assisting for Teacher Training almost every week day until I get my 15 hours in. My own practice sort of took a back seat to trying to get the assisting hours in before I get too uncomfortable or I can’t move in between the yogis at Y2. Have you seen how packed the classes can get? Me = agile….not so much. I still enjoy the non-heated yoga classes, but need to walk on the days that I don’t assist or do yoga. It’s just soooo hot. I need to wake up early. Who will keep me accountable for this?

Food: The No-Cook Pita Pockets were a hit this week for us. We also had tofu tacos, vegan pizza, and Daniel made spaghetti. He had a glass of wine by himself, shame.

Clothing: My awesome tank tops from Target, that you have undoubtedly seen me wear way more than once, are not going to last much longer. The maternity band on my shorts is slowly becoming more visible as the shirt tries to stretch over the bump. I might have to buy my first maternity shirt in the end! It’s been a good run so far though.

How I’m feeling: I woke up shouting, “Ahhhhh,” one night this week. Daniel told me in the morning that he thought I was going into labor. My calf had cramped up and I was shouting for Daniel to pull my toes back to stretch it out. We fell back asleep straight away and I had to ask him in the morning if the whole event really happened, or if I had dreamed it. Well, it happened again one other night when I pointed my toes randomly.

I don’t EVER read the pregnancy week-by-week “symptoms” because I’ll end up making myself have whatever it is they say is common to many woman. I usually google something after I get it, like the round ligament pain at 20 or so weeks, and now the cramps. Anyone else like me?

Cravings/Aversions:

  1. Cravings- I courageously walked past the cheese puffs and got some popcorn this week. I was very proud of myself.

  2. Aversions- Still the same: Sundried tomatoes, peanut sauce, stirfry, curry, and meat smells. I just can’t. Still.

What I miss:

  1. Lying on my tummy and back (still my number one miss!)(I’m not changing this…ever)

  2. All the yoga poses with a twist

Nursery: We ordered the mirror and ballet/pull-up bar this week and finally agreed on a rug for the corner of the room. We are slowly getting there. It’s definitely my favorite room. I might move our queen mattress on to the floor in there and we can all just live happily ever after 😉

Hubby: Daniel’s foot is all better and he is back to being our knight in shining armor. He has the sweetest “baby voice” and I can’t wait to see him in action with our little nu-nu, as we call him/her.

Can’t wait for: We are going to our first classes this weekend at Baby+Co. “Caring for a newborn” and “Breastfeeding”. I can’t wait to learn many wonderful thing about parenting our little one. We literally know so little about being parents, but feel confident that we will grow as we learn together.

Ummm…are we starting to look more similar every year?

Our hospital tour last night at Novant Presbyterian was great. They took us around the delivery wing, the post-partum rooms and we even saw and heard the sweet little crying of some of the newborns. I want one! I’m just in denial that I have to get this one out of me. Eeeek. We have another tour at Pineville at the end of the month then will make a decision about what’s best for the baby and us. Like I said in last week’s post, we are not in-network with Baby+Co so it’s going to be a lot more expensive for us, and with baby having a single umbilical artery, we just want to have other options to consider.

We already feel like there are so many big decisions to make as parents, but are just making them one at a time.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Till next week,
